Let's pretend

Let's pretend it's still April and I'll show you an April finish (which also happens to be the first finish from my 2014 Finish Along list for Q2):

It's the first bee quilt I've ever pieced and quilted. It also resembles quite closely the quilt I had in mind when I was asking for the blocks in January, so I'm very happy with it. I do hope it will make one young person a bit more happy, too.

So, a big thank you to all the lovely ladies in our Euro Siblings Together Bee, who fearlessly stitched the improv trees - I know not everybody is fond of improv.

I had fun arranging the blocks and looking at the lovely fabrics, especially those previously unknown to me. (You can see the separate blocks in our flickr group pool here)

I wanted to make the quilt squishy and crinkly so I quilted it in what I hope looks at least a bit like wood grain. The back, which I still have not managed to photograph properly, is the trusty Ikea numbers print.

I know it's not a very original choice, but it remains my favourite backing, as I love both the pattern and the softness of the fabric.
